Someone else living MY dreams!

Adoption.  It's been in my vocabulary for as long as I can remember.  I want to adopt.  I want to orchestrate adoptions.  Heck, I've even been dreaming of what it would like to be a surrogate!

I want to help families come together!  Period the end.

Since high school, I've had a dream of opening an adoption agency by the time I'm 30 years old...  Cutting costs as much as possible in order to make their dreams of family a reality!

I often get e-mails to Lost Stork Foundation inquiring about our grant status and asking if I know of any other grants offering assistance.  Through my own Google search, I do, so I pass on the information.  I often check in on the other foundations from time to time to see if they are still active before passing along the information.

One, The Fertile Dreams Foundation, seems to be going strong!  It's excellent the couples they are helping!  I hope to join them SOON!!  :-)

So I was reading their latest news and see they've dag gum opened an Adoption Agency!

I'm very happy for them!  It's awesome that they are helping build families by funding IVF and now Adoption!

So maybe I need to revamp my dreams.....

Household Management Tips

Definitely a "needs improvement" of mine...

When Little Miss came along, I would put her in the ERGO and clean.  {She still goes in most times especially when vacuuming but it kills my back when I'm doing the stairs} No biggie.  Showering still was hit or miss but eh, I showered most days so I considered it a positive.

When we moved into the hotel when she was 8 months old, I had two objectives.  First, to keep up with laundry.  Second, to focus the rest of my attention on her.

We ate the breakfast provided.  Lunch was leftovers.  Dinner, four days a week, was hotel provided and the other three was easy as we only had a two stove top burner and microwave to cook with so it had to be easy.  We took the dogs to the groomer once a month as well.

8 months of life like this.

Moving to our own place with an into everything 16 month old, I not only have to figure out how to cook real meals with a toddler wanting to help every step of the way {I will throw out kudos to Charles here as he has been a fantastic help in doing most of the cooking when he gets off of work early enough!} but also spending quality time with her, keeping up with all the housework, bathing the dogs, showering, and being pleasant for Charles when he gets home.

To say I've been overwhelmed is an understatement.

I've felt like such a failure as a wife and mom most days.  I either spend all day cleaning {vacuuming the stairs is soooo time consuming not to mention the rest of the house!} and picking up or neglect all chores and focus 100% on Little Miss.  When I "neglect" her, she acts out with hitting and kicking.  When I "neglect" the chores, I feel horrible greeting Charles when he gets off work as I'm sure he wonders where the stash of bon-bons are since that must be all I've done that day.  I do shower when she takes her one nap at about 1pm.  Yes, that does mean I'm in my pjs and a mess until then so please don't come by before then.  :-)

So in an effort to become a 1 from a -92389075072309570235 on the 1 out of 10 scale of least to most like Martha Stewart, I'm asking for any tips or tricks anyone may have!

What does your typical day look like?

Only two months late...

Little Miss' 18 month photos thanks to my amazing cousin Joanie

My older brother practicing his photography skills.  What better subject than Little Miss herself?  :-)

This rocking chair entered our family when my older brother {see above} was a tot!

She loves to "stop and smell the flowers"  :-)

Blowing kisses!

I can't believe she is 20 months old now!  Only 4 more months and I'll have a TWO YEAR OLD!

10 Year Anniversary!

Next year Charles and I will celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary!  That's just insane to think about...  So instead, I'm planning how we'll celebrate!  :-)

We talked about renewing our vows but that just seems like a lot of wasted money.  We're already married.  It's only been 10 years.  Not to mention the stress of planning another wedding!  Eek!  Maybe at 25 years?  Maybe.

In 2009 I posted about a Sea Turtle experience.  I have brought this back up to Charles with the hopes that we can do this then.  And then I got to thinking...  I {hope} to be pregnant or a new mom again then so maybe we should do that THIS year!  9 years is just as good as 10 years, right?  :-)

Just need to convince my mom to join us so she can watch Little Miss at night while we go frolic with Sea Turtles!

How did you/do you celebrate your 10 year Anniversary?

Do you share?

I know the statistics.

1 in 6.

I know that number is smaller than this now.

I know how comforting it is to meet someone else "like me".

Am I the only one though to offer up every opportunity I get that Little Miss was a long awaited gift?

I hate the feeling of knowing that when we're out and about we will encounter someone be it if we know so or not, who is impacted by infertility.

I hate the idea of them looking upon Little Miss with broken hearts and us with envy.  I want to offer up a hug and tell them that I know the valley depths of heartache and the mountain top high joy that comes with infertility.

Instead, I want Little Miss to be a beacon of hope...  Hope that God is still in the miracle business.  She's proof positive.

I yearn for people to know our story so they can, hopefully, be encouraged.

To know that they are not alone on the journey.

To make the topic of infertility no longer taboo.

Do you take the opportunity to offer up that infertility struck you too?

I've been a Googling fool lately...  It seems like I've forgotten all the "tips and tricks" that are floating around cyberspace to get one pregnant.

Really sad actually.

So I've found myself Googling a lot more these days as a refresher.  In my searching though, I came across Myo-Inositol and d-Chiro-Inositol.  The gist is- the former has many studies backing it's specific help with egg quality, ovulation enhancing, and cycle regularity.  The latter has better results in insulin regularity {and more expensive}.  Since I have not had any problems with insulin resistance I decided to give Myo-Inositol a try!  I ordered Pregnitude.  Available without a prescription.  I got mine from Target.  I'm on day 2 and the only side effect that may be related though could be completely coincidental is a headache I had the first day.

I've read it can start working in as little as 8 days!  I am somewhere between period and period so I started taking OPKs until period shows and I can start using the ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor!  Yep, the naiveness is here...

Anyone have experience with Myo-Inositol or d-chiro-inositol??  I would love to hear reviews, good and bad!

Gone Gluten/Dairy/Soy Free!

We have entered week 3 of eating Gluten/Dairy/Soy free!  {We have "cheated" three times...  Pretty much one day out of the week and have totally regretted it afterwards!}

I've read WAY too many articles and personal stories on gluten intolerances/sensitivities and the link with PCOS...  Dairy too.  Well, dairy it makes sense to me.  We don't need milk past the age of weaning.  AKA age 2.  Truly.  And milk, even organic, is naturally high in estrogen since it does come from a lactating animal and all...  As a society, we are estrogen dominant.  Men and women.  Boys and girls.  Worth looking into...

The first week was really hard.  What CAN you eat if you take away gluten, dairy, and soy infested foods!?  It seemed like nothing.  Week 3 and I'm honestly not missing any of our previous gluten, dairy, or soy based foods!  Now the bank account is hurting a bit more since fresh foods are more expensive than the processed junk foods.  Overall, we both FEEL better too.  Doesn't hurt that our first week he lost 2 lbs and I lost 1.3 lbs!  We haven't weighed since as we were away for the weekend attending my brother's wedding and that's when we usually weigh in...  This weekend.

*Side note here- Little Miss is still eating dairy in the form of Greek yogurt as she is also still nursing so not yet past "weaning age" thus able to tolerate it.  :-)

I met with a new Ob/Gyn here to discuss our next steps in getting me knocked up already and after an ultrasound was told that my right ovary is "quiet", no cysts were found.  My left ovary had a small handful of cysts.  Progress is being made!  I was told that I'm "normal" and to just wait it out as Dr believes I will get pregnant, again, the good ole' fashion way.  I'm hopeful but realistic.

Anyone else Gluten/Dairy/Soy free???  I would LOVE some of your favorite recipes to try out as we are experimenting still.  :-)

I cannot believe it but my oldest younger brother {follow that?} is MARRIED!!! I am so happy for them and absolutely adore my new sister-in-law! :-)  The wedding was absolutely gorgeous!  The ceremony was held, literally, under giant Oak Trees that sit on 1600 ish acres.  The reception immediately followed in the backyard of a really old house with white lights strung from the trees.  Flowers were the theme.  Ah.  Just breathtaking.  I was too busy being there {catching up with long time friends and family and keeping up with Little Miss} to take pictures.  Regretting that now...

But, just had to share these amazing moments!!!  My brother, the groom here, has started Antebellum Photobooth Co!  Vintage inspired photobooths for rent that add some serious fun to all gatherings!!  People were in and out of these all evening long!  Check out Facebook for all the photos from the wedding plus other events!  Oh, and they travel!!!  :-)

At their wedding, they used this for the guest book!  People came out, picked up their pictures, selected which side of the sheet they wanted to keep for themselves and which side went into the guest book.  Then they wrote a little note or just signed names next to their photos and it is a memory that will surely last a lifetime for the bride and groom!
BFF since 1991 and I!

Oklahoma City Bound!

For the last 7 weeks Charles has been in Oklahoma City, OK for training since he is doing a different job here in Charlotte than in St. Louis.

We were blessed that my mom happened to receive an e-mail notification about Delta airline specials that just happened to be a weekend trip from Atlanta {where we happened to be for a month} to Oklahoma City!{Take note of all those "coincidences"?  Yep.  God was looking down on us.}

It was so needed for Little Miss and myself to see Charles!

We headed out to the Oklahoma City Zoo which, despite the city itself being just ugly {in MY opinion} the zoo was beautiful and much more exciting than the Atlanta Zoo was!

A few of my favorite photos from our weekend trip...
